Woodworking
Project Overview:
My interest in woodworking began in high school shop classes, where I first learned how ideas translate into material, tools, and process. That early exposure to hands-on making quickly expanded beyond the classroom, evolving into personal projects and eventually Sam Damen Woodworking. Through building furniture such as a desk, credenza, and bedframe, I developed practical skills in joinery, machining, material selection, and finishing. Repeatedly working through full builds deepened my understanding of materials and their strengths, limitations, movement, and tolerances. Together, these projects reflect a growing confidence in making, where material knowledge and craftsmanship actively inform each design decision.
